Well, a GREAT time was had by all at the FunFest!!! After a very rainy Friday we had fantastic weather on Saturday and Sunday. All of the money raised at the festival goes to support our wonderful school – it’s all for our kids!!
It takes A LOT of hard work and dedication to put on the festival. Planning begins in December, so it’s a long but rewarding process. I wanna give a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to our outstanding Committee – they plan all aspects of the festival: Chairman Matt Gartner, Co-Chair Amanda Hoerst, Matt Summy, Lori Spencer, Katie Radic, David Spaulding and Kevin Lonneman.
A BIG SHOUT-OUT to our tier-leads: Grounds – Chad Conley, Volunteers – Karen Rodino, FunLand – Debbie Harmeling, Theresa Autry and Katie Radic, Food & Drink – Toni Sturpe & Amanda Hoerst, Games of Skill – Matt Gartner, Administrative – Lori Spencer & Donna Schulte, Finance – Dan Moser, Therese Moser & Alvin Bartlett, Sponsorships – Cindy Martin, Gaming – Walt Coleman, Mona McCammon, Susan Foster and David Foster.
And a BIG round of applause to ALL of our Booth Captains and to EVERYONE who volunteered to work in a booth or volunteered in any capacity or donated anything to help make our Festival so AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!
Setting up and tearing down for the festival is a lot of work and we have, without a doubt, THE MOST DEDICATED set-up and tear-down crew in the entire Diocese!!! Thank you sssooooo much – I’m very grateful!!!
We’ll be having a “Thank You” party for ALL festival volunteers sometime in the coming weeks – so keep your eyes on the bulletin for details.
I have some sad news and some good news. First the sad news, our Music Director Tom Kohlhepp is stepping down from his position in a couple weeks. Tom has been the music director for the 7 years that I’ve been here and for a few years before that. The good news is that even though he’s stepping down, he won’t be completely leaving us – he’ll still be playing at our 11:30am Mass every Sunday. He’ll also probably be filling in now and again, so he’ll be around, just not as much. THANKS Tom!!!
Even more good news is that we hired a new Music Director to take Tom’s place – her name is Carissa Young. Carissa and her husband Jake moved down here from the Diocese of Cleveland a couple years ago and they have 3 children, a 4 yr. old, 2 yr. old, and 10 month old – that’s a busy household!! So here’s where I need your help – with 3 little ones, Carissa is looking for a part-time babysitter, if you’re interested please call Jenny in the parish office at 859-525-6909.
We’re excited about Carissa and her family joining our parish family – stop by and welcome her after a Mass!!
Well, the Reds were playing decent ball for the first couple months, but June has been a disaster. They’re fun to watch because they score a lot of runs, but their starting pitching is a nightmare. Hopefully some of the young pitchers in the minors step up to help out. Go Reds!!!
Peace & grace,
