BABY BLANKET MINISTRY

Participation: Anyone willing to make a baby blanket. Purpose: To provide a welcoming gift to all babies receiving the Sacrament of Baptism in the parish. Blankets are collected on the second weekend of every month. The collection bin is placed outside the Narthex Meeting Room.
BOY SCOUTS
Boy Scout Leader: Mark Barth (859)-283-0833
Purpose: The purpose of Boy Scouts of America is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults, to build character, to train in the responsibilities of practicing good citizenship, and to develop personal fitness by preparing them to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
COMMUNION to the SICK and HOMEBOUND

Requirements and Training: Mandatory training, appointment by the Bishop and commissioning by the pastor (see Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion above) is required.
Participation: Must have received all three Sacraments of Initiation, reach the age of sixteen, not be under any canonical penalty, and be actively practicing their Catholic faith. Purpose: Assist in the distribution of Holy Communion to those unable to attend Mass because of health issues in their homes or nursing facilities.
HEALTH MINISTRY

Participation: Volunteer. Must have a background in the health care field.
Purpose: To strengthen our parish community by promoting wellness of body, mind, and spirit. Our goal is to promote a healthier parish community. This is accomplished by developing and organizing programs to educate all parishioners about health care issues, practices, and resources.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #14993

Meetings: First and third Mondays of the month in the school library.
Participation: Catholic men volunteers. Purpose: With the core values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism, the Council will support efforts to protect human life from conception to natural death, preserve and defend the value of family, support the Catholic priests and the religious men and women of the Church.
MINISTRY OF COMFORT/BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE
Chairperson: Linda Arlinghaus (859)-586-6198 Mary Ann Sander (859) 991-5333
Purpose: Assist parishioners in preparing the funeral liturgy of a loved one. Committee members attend the funeral Mass and distribute programs and coordinate memorial fund activities. If the family requests desserts for a post-funeral reception, these are provided.
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

Participation: Must be a parent or guardian of a Mary, Queen of Heaven School student or a teacher/administrator at the school.
Purpose: The PTO’s goal is to support the education of each MQH School student. We do this by raising funds for educational programs requested by the faculty, providing partial funding for school renovations, and promoting community building by sponsoring fun events for our students and their families. PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY

Participation: Anyone willing to make a blanket.
Purpose: Blankets are made by parishioners, a prayer is sewn on one side, the blankets are blessed and then distributed to parishioners in the hospital, a nursing home or homebound.
THE QUEEN’S SERVICE
Chairperson: Mary Ann Sander (859) 991-5333
Participation: Catholic Women Volunteers
Purpose: To practice the spiritual and corporal works of mercy by praying for the homebound and sick parishioners, sending greeting cards to the same, praying for the service men and women listed in the Parish bulletin and assisting the Bereavement Committee with baking desserts for post-funeral receptions.
RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE
Chairperson: Deacon Rick & Jean Dames (859) 341-2891
Participation: Volunteer.
Purpose: To increase an awareness of the sanctity of life from conception to a natural death. Activities: Baby bottle campaign, obtain signatures for Right to Life advertisement in the Kentucky Enquirer, and to advertise and encourage participation in Right to Life Activities.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Participation: Volunteer.
Purpose: Offer tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. Help with rent/mortgage assistance, utility assistance, clothing, furniture, emergency shelter, and pharmacy.
