HOLY THURSDAY: 1 Cor. 11:23 “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
St. Paul never met the Lord Jesus Christ in His earthly life. Think about that for a second; see Paul was taken up to the third heaven to speak with Jesus personally; 2 Cor. 12:2. For Christ to do this, He must of wanted to tell Paul something very important. Like, how is the end time scenario going to play out? What is the exact date that your 2nd coming will take place? All important questions but Jesus wasn’t interested in that little tidbit of information, no, Jesus focus is on one thing only. He tells Paul “this is what I brought you up here for, I want to go over the mass with you, I want you to be clear that this is my body given up for you” The Last Supper, the teaching of “The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass” was so important to Jesus that he would not entrust this information to no one else, but Himself. This meal changed the way man worships, this meal is so AWESOME that it brings us the Body, Blood, soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. I love this quote from St. Augustine, it says “At the Last Supper Jesus held himself in His own hands” Isn’t that cool? Meditate on that!
GOOD FRIDAY: Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
After the Last Supper, Jesus goes into the Garden of Gethsemane, He prays to His Father, to take this cup away. In his human nature Jesus was scared to death, He was so full of anxiety and fear that he started to sweat drops of blood; Luke 22:44. He was looking for a better way, He was asking, is there another approach? Jesus says “can’t we just use our divine powers Father?” The Father says, NO! What you need to seriously understand is that Jesus didn’t ever use His divine powers to help Himself. In His passion He suffered all the pains that any of us would experience, even though He was God, He emptied himself of all its benefits, He suffered just like you and I would; Philippians 2:6-7. Jesus on The Friday they call GOOD took our place, took our punishment. LOOK! Jesus died on the cross for you and I. This Good Friday, do something spiritual to thank Jesus Christ for saving you!
EASTER SUNDAY: Luke 24:2-3 “And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”
Death does not have the final word. In His resurrection Jesus Christ has not only defeated death, but He has defeated the devil. Fear no more, rejoice, and always be happy and free, for you are SAVED by Jesus Christ Passion, Death and Resurrection. These three days changed the world! These three days changed us!
1 day, saved us! 1 day, sustains us! 1 day, He will raise us!
